WAL-MART EMPLOYEES QUIT RATHER THAN ACCEPT FEWER HOURS, LOWER BENEFITS

Apparantly a new computer system at Wal-Mart Stores' Bentonville, Arkansas headquarters is working to match customer traffic with the number of available associates at it's stores, and the result is devestating for many West Central Florida employees of the retail juggernaut, according to the Sarasota Herald Tribune. Many are facing reductions in hours, which for some also includes change to part-time status and, therefore, loss of benefits.

I just finished reading, "Nickle and Dimed." I can't remember the author's name, but the book is about how she worked at various jobs around the country and attempted to live on the income. One of the jobs was at a Wal-Mart. Long story short - she could not survive on her Wal-Mart wages. It was a good read.
