CLINTON FOCUSES ON EQUAL OPPORTUNITY AND SHARED RESPONSIBILITY AND AN INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY

Former President Bill Clinton spoke to a group of approximately 500 Democratic Party activists Monday during a fundraising event in Orlando on the last of a two day swing through the Sunshine State at which he helped fatten the campaign coffers of U.S. Senator Bill Nelson by more than $500,000. Yesterday's event reportedly raised more than $250,000 for the state Democratic Party as it prepares to enter the campaign season.

More important to many, though, was the message that Clinton presented during his half-hour address, according to the Orlando Sentinel story. The former president warned those in attendance not to simply focus on the what the Republicans have done wrong, but offer specific policy alternatives and offer a unified message to the electorate.

"Our job is to speak clearly about what we stand for," Clinton said. "We don't want to be gloomy. We want to be upbeat."

One point that Clinton wanted to make clear enough that the Palm Beach Post political blog Q noted that he mentioned it three times during his remarks was that “We believe in equal opportunity and shared responsibilities and an inclusive American community”.
