WERE YOU SHOCKED LAST NIGHT?

Jaws dropped across the country last night when it was announced that rocker Chris Daughtry had been eliminated from the "American Idol" competition. Many had believed that the 26 year old from North Carolina was the favourite to win it all.

After Katharine McPhee's performance Tuesday night, she tallied the second lowest number of votes. Her jaw definately dropped, either because she was surprised that Chris was going home or because she was simply relieved to still be in the competition.

You've got to know that judge Simon Cowell has to be concerned at this point, as his production company will have to help market the winner's CD. The final three are McPhee, grey-haired Taylor Hicks, and Elliott Yamin. Hicks is a good singer, but has received more attention for being the most active performer on stage. Yamin is probably the best singer in the competition, but doesn't have much else to contribute. And McPhee's performance has crumbled under pressure the past two weeks.

Whoever wins, he or she will have plenty of time to get ready and polish up their presentation. The ten finalists will begin their tour in July; the only two Florida stops will be in Sunrise at the BankAtlantic Center on August 5 and at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa the following night.
