ON THE SUNDAY CHAT SHOWS

Well, I'm late with this tonight because I spent much of the day enjoying Volvo Mayfaire-by-the-Lake (yeah, even the arts events are selling naming rights!), one of the area's largest and oldest arts fairs. It was a great day to enjoy a stroll around Lake Mirror just off downtown with my granddaughter --- we don't get to do that very much --- while appreciating the wonderful artistic endeavours from throughout the Southeast...not to mention the food! If you're in the area, Mayfaire continues Sunday from 10AM until 5 PM.

The National Security Agency's survelliance programme will be the dominant topic on most of the chat shows this weekend.

ABC / This Week with George Stephanopoulos: First Lady Laura Bush will appear on this Mother's Day. Also, a debate over the NSA between U.S. Senators Joseph Biden (D - DE) and Chuck Hagel (R - NE). The weekly roundtable will consist of Democratic political strategist Donna Brazille, David Brooks of the New York Times, and conservative columnist George Will.

CBS / Face The Nation with Bob Schieffer: No information has been released.

CNN / Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer: National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley will discuss the NSA issue, along with former National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski, U.S. Senators Dr. Bill Frist (R - TN / Majority Leader) and Patrick Leahy (D - VT), and Jordanian Foreign Minister Ilah Khatib.

FOX / Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace: The First Lady will also be on here discussing her effort to help schools rebuild after hurricane Katrina. And the Vice President's daughter, Mary Cheney, will talk about her sexuality (she is a lesbian) and her true feelings about the Bush administration.

NBC / Meet the Press with Tim Russert: No Mother's Day light talk here, with former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R - GA) discussing several issues along with his possible presidential ambitions for 2008. And a political roundtable featuring John Harwood of CNBC and The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek Managing Editor Jon Meacham, and Judy Woodruff of CNN.

Syndicated / The Chris Matthews Show: Can Karl Rove rescue the Bush Presidency? That and predicting Katie Couric's success at CBS News will be discussed with Elisabeth Bumiller and Bill Carter of the New York Times, Newsweek's Howard Fineman, and Andrea Mitchell of NBC News.
