A NOTE OF CLARIFICATION...
The Lakeland Ledger and AP did not include this in their reporting, and the Florida Elections Division Website has his status listed incorrectly.
Please note that JAMES B. DAVIS DID QUALIFY as the Democratic candidate for the 12th Congressional District seat currently held by GOP incumbant Adam Putnam. The filing fee and qualifying papers were submitted and accepted before the noon deadline Friday.
James B. Davis is a 58-year-old native of Polk County, and owns a massage/physical therapy clinic in Bartow. Mr. Davis is certified in a number of fields, and is an experienced human resource development and management consultant. He has been socially active for a number of years, most recently in the effort to save Polk General Hospital, the county's indigent care hospital, from closure. This is his first political campaign, and he is seeking to become the first African-American congressional representative for the district, which covers much of Polk County as well as areas of eastern Hillsborough and a small section of Osceola County.
He has been speaking to several groups over the past weeks since announcing his intention to seek election, and will address the I-4 Corridor Group on Monday evening at 7:00 PM at the First Baptist Institutional Church, located at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue and Memorial Boulevard just off downtown Lakeland.
The I-4 organisation is an officially nonpartisan group of progressive minded political activists from through the Central Florida area, and has been organized for several years. One of the main focuses of the group is to communicate with and aid like-minded activists and candidates across jurisdictional bounds to successfully bring back our local, state, and federal offices from the errors of the far right. To find out more about this group, you can contact Fred Williams in Tampa at (813) 885-6161 or Tom Macy in Winter Haven at (863) 299-9549.

I am a local reporter who has been researching this race...I spoke to the elections office and they confirmed that Davis DID NOT qualify, as they only received his papers NOT the filing fee. Looks like the local Dems have been had. Hope you didn't give him any money...
Also, he has had several bankruptcies and been arrested at least once that I found, so he probably was not your best candidate. Better luck next time.
