ONE GONE, ANOTHER POSSIBLY ON THE WAY (OH NO, NOT AGAIN!)
Now-tropical depression Dennis has cleared out of our way, pouring rain on the Middle Mississippi Valley and creating havoc later in the week for the Ohio River Valley with continuing heavy thunderstorms.
Thankfully, the amount of damage throughout the Gulf South was minimal compared to what could have been. A slight shift northward before making landfall, along with picking up forward speed and rapid weakening all boded well for many, especially in the Mobile/Pensacola area.
But now...there is another tropical depression to begin keeping an eye on. What is now Tropical Depression #5 is expected to become Emily within a day or so. Looking at the five day forecast track, there is some fairly good news to hope for. Yeah, I know what they say about relying on the centre line, but if it were to keep on that track it would take the storm over the northern part Hispanola, a very mountinous region which would likely weaken it quite a bit.
Let's pray it takes a sudden northeastward turn into the open Atlantic, eh...Those poor folks in Haiti and the Dominican Republic have had more than their share of misery thanks to Dennis.
