DONALD TRUMP POLITICS

New York developer and media celebrity Donald Trump hosted his fourth fundraising event for GOP gubenatorial candidate Charlie Crist last evening at his Mar-A-Lago estate in Palm Beach County. It was a big ticket event, at $10,000 per person. Adam C. Smith of the St. Petersburg Times wrote this morning in the newspaper's political blog The Buzz that Trump had a few things to say (surprised?) when they chatted Friday.

Example: The war in Iraq has been a “total and complete disaster,’’ he said, and “whoever is against the war should take control of Congress. The longer it keeps going you prolong the agony.’’

In that case, he would vote for good friend Hillary Rodham Clinton for president in 2008. He told Smith:

“She’s brilliant woman and she’s going to be a very, very formidable candidate,’’ the registered Republican said of his home state senator. “I Believe she’ll be the Democratic candidate and I think she’s going to be very, very formidable. Absolutely I think she can win, especially if the war’s still going on. Hopefully she gets more militant against the war…She’s a little bit down the middle, which I think is a bad stance.’’

Trump is predicting the GOP ticket will be Arizona U.S. Senator John McCain and former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, both of whom he also considers friends.
