AND NOW, FOR YOUR ENTERTAINMENT...

I've mentioned here a couple of times previously the gubernatorial campaign of Independent Kinky Friedman in Texas. The comedian/musician/author is running against Republican incumbant Rick Perry, former Congressman Democrat Chris Bell, and Republican State Comptroller, Carole Strayhorn (running as an independent and is the mother of former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan). In the latest Rasmussen Reports poll taken at the beginning of this month, Perry leads with 35% of 500 likely voters, with Bell, Strayhorn, and Friedman each pulling in 18%.

Friedman's at least having fun doing it. His campaign has released three cartoon bits, the latest of which includes vocal talents of several friends including Willie Nelson, the Dixie Chicks, and Billie Joe Shaver. They are rather entertaining, so check 'em out:

The former frontman for The Texas Jewboys (Friedman is Jewish) also is selling Kinky talking action figures, which are featured in three commercials running across the Lone Star State. You can check those out here, but you have to have Windows Media Player or Quicktime to see 'em.
