The St. Petersburg Times and Naples Daily News continue their endorsements of candidates for the September 5 primary races.

The Times is focusing on a couple of congressional contests today. In the 9th Congressional District race to replace retiring Republican incumbant Mike Bilirakis, the newspaper recommends his son, State Representative Gus Bilirakis, in the GOP primary.

In the Democratic primary for the 11th Congressional District seat to replace incumbant and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jim Davis, the Times gives it's backing to current Hillsborough County Commissioner Kathy Castor for "her rounded experience and consistent record in pushing the right issues for the growing region".

Meanwhile, in South Florida, the Naples Daily News endorses two statewide candidates today. It recommends State Senator Walter J. "Skip" Campbell of Fort Lauderdale in the Democratic primary for Attorney General and State Representative Randy Johnson of Celebration in his effort for the Republican primary to be Florida's next Chief Financial Officer.
