NOT REALLY WHAT WAS EXPECTED

Some folks were saying that Tropical Storm Alberto would become the season's first hurricane --- barely --- but it doesn't look like that will come to fruition. It looks as though Alberto will make landfall in the Big Bend area near Cross City around lunchtime today with highest sustained winds of around 60 MPH.

Here in Polk County the only significant thing we can expect is...more rain. It may get a little windy as the day progresses, but it'll probably be more of a godsend than anything, as the area needs the water. Our friends along the coastline have begun experiencing some minor flooding with the combination of storm surge with the high tide.

The only closure due to Alberto here is summer school classes. Otherwise, it's a normal day.
