LAKELAND SENATOR HONOURED BY NATIONAL MAGAZINE

The Buzz makes note this afternoon that Florida Senator Paula Dockery (R - Lakeland) has been selected by Governing magazine as one of it's eight public officials of the year for 2005.

The magazine, which is published by Congressional Quarterly, is a monthly publication which is aimed toward state and local government officials and others with special interest in state and local government.

Senator Dockery, who previously served six years in the House before being elected to the upper chamber in 2002, was singled out for her efforts on behalf of a water bill which was passed by legislators during the regular session. Her district includes eastern Hernando, central and southern Sumter, and extremely southern Lake counties, as well as much of northern Polk and portions of northwest Osceola counties. She is married to millionaire C.C. "Doc" Dockery, who led the fight for high speed rail...which ruined his previously cordial relationship with Jeb!

Among the other officials who will be honoured at a dinner in Washington next month are Denver mayor John Hickenlooper, Boston schools superintendent Thomas W. Payzant, and Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee.

BTW: I didn't realize that Governing and CQ are owned by Times Publishing Company, which is the parent of the St. Petersburg Times.
