WEB SITE CREATOR BUSTED IN LAKELAND ON OBSCENITY CHARGES

A 27 year old Lakeland resident was arrested and his apartment searched by Polk County sheriff's deputies Friday night on obscenity charges after his site attracted international attention for allegedly offering military personnel serving in Iraq and Afghanistan free access to the site's nude pictures in exchange for their sending photos from the war zones.

Chris Wilson, a former police officer in the town of Eagle Lake, has been charged with 100 counts of distribution or transmission of obscene materials, 100 counts of offering to distribute or transmit obscene materials, and 100 counts of possession of obscene materials. All are misdemeanors.

The only felony charge filed against Wilson is one count of wholesale promotion of obscene materials. He remains in the Polk County Jail pending $151,000 bail, and is being represented by Altamonte Springs attorney Lawrence G. Walters, a specialist in, among other areas, First Amendment law and censorship issues.

Here is the story from Saturday's Lakeland Ledger. Here is the site in question; it requires registration. Here is the story from today's Orlando Sentinel.
