HOW EATING OUT BRINGS BACK OLD MEMORIES

The family ate out last evening at Lakeland's new Whataburger restaurant on U.S. 98 North. The place just opened up last week at a great location, next to a Wal-Mart Supercenter.

Needless to say, it's going through "new restaurant syndrome", where the drive-thru lines are long and the inside was packed (at least when we went around 5:45 PM). Everyone wants to check out the new food joint.

Actually, Lakeland had a Whataburger previously, located a little over a mile south near Lakeland Square Mall, but had been closed for some time.

It was the first time in three decades I had been into a Whataburger restaurant. I discovered the brand when I lived in Pasadena, Texas, a suburb of Houston. It was a favourite eatery of mine then, and it seems like this crew in Lakeland is keeping up the good quality (although my son complained it seemed a little more expensive).
