OMG...I DID'NT THINK SHE HAD IT IN HER

One thing about politics and politicians is that sometimes even the best public servant vote wrong...and the worst public servants vote right.

I'm one who believes in giving credit where and when it is due, so I have to give an "attaboy" to Republican congresswoman Katherine Harris of Sarasota. Yeah, you read right. It seems that in a vote to increase funding for housing choice rent assistance vouchers by $100 million, Mrs. Harris was one of only 30 Republicans who joined the 194 Democrats and one Independent in approving the amendment to the budget for the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Sadly, the other two Members of Congress whose districts include portions of Polk County --- Mrs. Harris' distant relative Adam Putnam (R - Bartow) and Ginny Brown-Waite (R - Brooksville) --- didn't see the same way. They voted against the funding increase which would help low income residents in being able to afford decent housing. For Mr. Putman and Ms. Brown-Waite, it's only par for the course and once again shows the amount of concern (or lack of it) for the poorer of their constitutents.

Thanks to Jackie Dowd of the Orlando-based blog The 13th Juror for the heads up. Ms. Dowd is a poverty lawyer and law professor, so this subject is right down her alley.

Another example of why Katherine Harris is going to defeat Bill Nelson in '06. Her voting record is spectacular and as soon as people learn more about her positions, the poll numbers will move dramatically.

Plus she will raise about 20 million.
