EVIDENCE THAT SUPPORT FOR MADDOX IS COOLING OFF?

Palm Beach County Commissioner Burt Aaronson was one of the early riders on the Scott Maddox bandwagon, even hosting a fundraiser for the former Tallahassee mayor and Florida Democratic Party chairman's gubernatorial campaign last month.

It seems now that Aaronson's support has cooled off somewhat, according to Palm Beach Post political writer George Bennett.

He was among about two dozen leaders of a state Democratic PAC who gathered last week to discuss strategy for the governor's race. During that meeting, Aaronson urged his fellow People's Choice PAC members to avoid backing any candidate too early, and he told Bennett:

"Right now a lot of things have happened since that time and we're just going to wait and see...At this particular moment I'm not supporting anybody and will not make a decision until November or December."

The PAC has decided to interview the Democratic candidates, who also include Congressman Jim Davis of Tampa and State Senator Rod Smith of Alachua, before making it's decision...but it won't be before October.

Maddox still enjoys strong support, and early supporter Congressman Robert Wexler of Delray Beach is among those.
