SOUTHWEST FLORIDIANS NEED TO PITCH IN, TOO

It reads like Fort Myers News-Press political columnist Betty Parker chided Southwest Florida Democrats Saturday, noting that if they want to get taken seriously in politics they have to act like they are serious...and that means contributing to the effort with some major ching-ching.

She mentions that major fundraiser Will Prather, a Fort Myers businessman, is not getting involved in state races at present, concentrating in helping the reelection bid of U.S. Senator Bill Nelson. That scenario seems to be premeating most Democrats across Florida, IMHO, if the fundraising totals for the gubernatorial candidates are a barometer.

The three major Democratic candidates have raised roughly one million dollars combined, while the two major GOP contendors have done more than three times that amount each.
