AN AD ON YOUR ROOF? BETTER THAN BLUE TARP!
Months after the four hurricane quadfecta passed through Florida, there are still many blue tarps on roofs throughout Florida, thanks to the continuing backlog of insurance claims processing and roofing contractor backlogs. The only thing is, the tarps provided by FEMA are only meant to last a short period of time, and in many cases the tarps are beginning to tear and shread, not good for protecting roofs from further water damage from rains.
In Pensacola, the News Journal reports that Lamar Outdoor Advertising is trucking into Northwest Florida 900 vinyl billboards --- with hundreds more available if needed --- to replace the leaky FEMA tarps. Seems as though the heavy duty poly-vinylchloride is thicker than the blue tarp and can last much longer. Lamar usually recycles the billboards.
Lamar offered its old billboards after learning the United Way received more than 150 calls from people with torn blue roofs.
The billboard vinyls range from 242 square feet to 672 square feet and can be layered to cover a whole roof.
"You can either put the ad up or the ad down,'' Switzer said. "Whatever your fancy.'

I was just complaining about the blue roofs. This is a case of "be careful what you wish for."
Seriously though, good for Lamar. It's a really nice gesture on their part.
