PAT ROBERTSON STRIKES AGAIN!

Question of the day: Why do people who claim to be devout followers of the teachings of Jesus Christ tend to be some of the most hateful people in the land?

Televangalist Pat Robertson had yet another case of foot-in-mouth disease Wednesday on his "700 Club" programme, claiming that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's life-threatening stroke was divine retribution for the Israel's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip. Sharon, who has suffered two strokes within the past month, is clinging to life in hospital this morning. He had been placed in an induced coma, and reports this morning say that he had been taken back into surgery. Even if he survives, doctors say he will likely not be able to return to work.

Robertson said:

"He was dividing God's land, and I would say, 'Woe unto any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course to appease the EU [European Union], the United Nations or the United States of America...God says, 'This land belongs to me, and you'd better leave it alone,"

That remark puts him no better than the radical Palestinians who have been wishing death to the PM since news of his hospitalization were announced.

Of course, the founder of the Christian Broadcasting Network has been here before. You may remember that back in August, he called for the United States to assassinate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez ("If he thinks we're trying to assassinate him, I think we really ought to go ahead and do it. It's a whole lot cheaper than starting a war."). He has also suggested that a meteor could strike Florida because of Disney World's promotion "Gay Days" and that feminism caused women to kill their children, practice witchcraft and become lesbians.

Is this the type of Christian "leader" you would want to follow. I certainly don't.
