SCARBOROUGH WEIGHING HIS OPTIONS IN SENATE RACE

Well, it looks like former Panhandle congressman and MSNBC talk show host Joe Scarborough is seriously considering requests from Republican operatives to jump into the U.S. Senate race.

Yesterday the Pensacola News Journal reported that Scarborough had been approached about entering the race, and The Buzz blog of the St. Petersburg Times mentioned that he had said such a run was not likely. But the PNJ is saying this morning that the TV talker will head to Washington soon to speak with party leaders and White House officials, and that he will make a decision "soon".

The problem for many is simple: Congresswoman Katherine Harris (R - Sarasota) has to somehow direct herself more toward the middle to attract the undecideds and independents...but that would alienate her from many of her unapologetic conservatives. If she doesn't, those high negative numbers will come back and bite her on the backside. Scarborough is much better at playing the "Regular Joe" part.

I still say he doesn't do it. IMHO, he just doesn't have the heart for another long, grueling, and probably rough campaign, especially a statewide one.
