A study by the Institute for America's Future found recently that Sumter County is actually more dependent on Social Security benefits than any other Florida county, providing fully 21 percent of it's total personal income. This is based on the most recent data available, numbers from two years ago.

And you wanna know something that'll REALLY blow you away? Even as the Bush Administration works toward eventually privitazing Social Security by using private investment accounts and all that mumbo-jumbo, Sumter County favoured Bush 52-47 percent last year.
