NEUTRALITY? WHAT'S NEUTRALITY?

Normally, a party's county executive committee is supposed to stay neutral in primary politics. As a matter of fact, the Florida Democratic Party's constitution prohibits such activity. Apparantly, the Republicans have no such policy, although their chairperson Carole Jean Jordan would certainly like to see such a ban now.

The Buzz, the political blog of the St. Petersburg Times, mentions today that the Pasco County Republican Executive Committee will likely endorse Attorney General Charlie Crist at it's meeting Thursday, and that Crist's home county of Pinellas will probably do the same in October.

Pasco GOP Chair Bill Bunting says that three former state party chairpersons opened the door by endorsing Chief Financial Officer Tom Gallagher earlier this year. "When a Al Cardenas, Tom Slade and Van Poole endorsed Tom Gallagher, a lot of people didn't like that. They've opened the door for this.''
