SENATE PREZ SEEKS ACCEPTANCE IN HIS OWN PARTY

Is there any hope in a party primary for a candidate who is not on the extreme left or right, especially when that candidate makes jokes about his party's contenders for governor?

The Weekly Planet's Wayne Garcia looks at Senate President and GOP candidate for Chief Financial Officer Tom Lee in his "Political Whore" column. Lee appeared at a recent meeting of the Suncoast Tiger Bay Club, where during the introduction it was mentioned that "he may not be the darling of the Republican Party". While he says that on paper he has a very conservative record, Lee acknowledged that his biggest battles will be among fellow Republicans who have issues with his independence.

On an aside, I wonder what happened to Polk County's Tiger Bay chapter. We never hear much of anything from that group, which was formed (I believe) last year.
