FLORIDA POLITICAL BLOGOSPHERE GETS NOTICED

Today, St. Petersburg Times political columnist Adam C. Smith --- datelining from Chapel Hill, NC, where is apparantly has been attending a conference at UNC's Program on Southern Politics, Media & Public Life --- highlights the ever growing Florida political blog scene.

Among the blogs noted in the piece are Norwood Orrick's Tampa-based BlogWood, Florida Politics (noting Derrick Newton's recent contributions there), the Tallahassee-based Florida News (BTW: Check out Mike's post yesterday with some interesting questions to consider), and the Sayfie Review...which I don't consider to be a blog per se, but more of an online resource for political news from the state's major newspapers and columnists.

Many of us don't do it to get noticed in the "mainstream media"; we do it as a means to take notice of issues and stories that interest us, and as a place to let our opinion be noted. But it was great to read where some of the better politically based blogs across Florida can and do get mention, and hopefully it will result in them --- and all of us --- getting read, and maybe getting more people interested in starting their own.
