CLINTON MAY HAVE BEEN CRANK'D FROM BUFFETT'S CELL PHONE!

An interesting story, thanks to The Smoking Gun. Seems as though singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett lost his cellular phone while hangin' out at the Delray Beach Cuban jazz joint Brisa Atlantica on May 28. It was apparantly found by a busboy at the restaurant, who later scrolled through the phone's address book with a couple of friends while smokin' some dope. It was filled with heavy hitters of business, entertainment, and politics; from Harrison Ford and Alan Jackson to Bill Gates to Al Gore, Jimmy Carter, and Bill Clinton.

Although initally rejecting Buffett's offer of a $200 reward for the phone's return, the busboy and one of his friends returned it to Lake Worth police after a person identifying himself as being from AT&T security called earlier saying that the phone's whereabouts would be tracked via GPS. The display face had been smashed during an argument with the other friend, who wanted to sell the phone's SIM card (which keeps information such as the address book) to the tabloids. During the interview with police it was said that while he did not call former president Clinton, one of the other friends may have done so, thus bringing the United States Secret Service into the case.

No arrest, but according to Jose Lambiet's column in the Palm Beach Post, the busboy lost his job as a result of the fiasco.
