SOUTHERN ROCKER PUT TO REST

Back in the 80s, the Southern Rock explosion came to it's peak, with groups such as the Charlie Daniels Bank, Lynard Skynard, and Molly Hatchet commanding the charts.

The Florida Times Union reports that the funeral for former Molly Hatchet lead singer Danny Joe Brown was held yesterday in Davie. Brown died last Thursday of renal failure, a complication of diabetes that he has had since he was 19. Mr. Brown was 53, and is survived by his wife of 20 years along with five children and a stepson.

He will be buried in Fort Lauderdale.

The Times Union story also has links to selected sound clips from Molly Hatchet songs featuring Brown's work, including Flirtin' With Disaster and Gator Man.
