YOU CAN GET HERE FROM THERE!

Anyone who has tried to get from Orlando to Lakeland or Tampa via Interstate 4 can likely tell you a horror story of traffic jams due to an accident or rolling roadblocks resulting from the construction currently underway. If you just happen to be in the wrong place at rush hour or another wrong time, God help you!

Columnist Lydia Hinshaw of the Daytona Beach News Journal was assigned to cover the Florida High School Athletic Association 2A girls' championship games last Saturday at The Lakeland Center (Daytona Beach Father Lopez Catholic defeated Dade Christian 59-47 to win the title), and decided she would not submit herself to the Hades that is I-4...and proved that, indeed, you can get here from there. It may be a longer journey, but it's usually a pleasant drive visually and takes slightly less time in most cases.

Unfortunately, that was not the case for fans of Jacksonville Ribault. The two charter buses bringing them to The Lakeland Center for the 3A championship game against Florida Air Academy was stuck in one of those traffic jams due to an accident, and arrived late in the fourth quarter as their team lost in a five point decision.
