Mary McLoughlin / New York Post
FROM THE "WHAT ARE THEY DOING NOW" DEPARTMENT...FOR THOSE WHO ACTUALLY CARE

Lakeland Ledger political writer Bill Rufty highlights Morgan Ortagus-Dobbs of Lakeland, formerly press secretary of Congresswoman Katherine Harris' drama-filled campaign for the U.S. Senate. She was one of the last to leave before the Longboat Key Republican reshuffled her staff recently, and is now trying to make her name in the Big Apple.

Ms. Ortagus-Dobbs has hooked onto the campaign of another U.S. Senate candidate seeking to unseat a Democratic incumbant. She is now the press secretary to K.T. McFarland, a former Pentagon official challenging former first lady Hillary Rodham-Clinton.

In the meantime, Ms. Ortagus-Dobbs has made some news herself. The New York Post noted last Thursday that she was a Miss Florida Citrus four years ago, focusing in a headline on her looks. She doesn't like to talk about it, saying she did it to earn scholarship money toward finishing studies at Florida Southern College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree.
As the song says..."If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere." Too bad she hitched onto another losing campaign. Maybe she should have stayed with Ms. Harris and worked with the former Secretary of State on her looks and wardrobe.
