WANNA SUPPORT HILLARY FOR SENATE (AND MAYBE...)? YOU CAN DO SO IN FLORIDA
Fort Myers News-Press political columnist Betty Parker reported over the weekend that former First Lady and current U.S. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D - NY) will likely be making a stop in Southwest Florida raising funds for her reelection campaign during late February.
While the date has not been finalized, it seems that the most likely choice will be February 23 on Captiva Island. It will be part of a swing through the Sunshine State for the possible (some say probable) 2008 Democratic presidential candidate. Donors will be requested to shell out $4,000 each for Mrs. Clinton's campaign fund, but lesser amounts could be accepted according to ticket sales go.
If I'm not mistaken, any funds leftover from the senatorial reelection fund could be transferred into a presidential campaign fund or "exploratory committee". So you could, in the long run, be eventually helping Mrs. Clinton's possible presidential ambitions. Just as well, because with the exception of U.S. Senate collegue and 2004 nominee John Kerry (D - MA) I really don't see any other major Democratic names out there ready to make a real challenge for the White House in two years.
