THE "GLUE" HOLDING FOX NFL SUNDAY IS GONE

I read yesterday that James Brown is leaving Fox Sports, returning to CBS where he began his network career.

Brown was the primary host of Fox NFL Sunday, and was usually the one to keep the show's content flowing and on schedule as Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, and Jimmy Johnson seemed to often threaten to take it off course. He was, IMHO, the "glue" that often held the show together for it's 12 years.

He will replace Greg Gumbel as primary host of The NFL Today, but what really lured J.B. to West 57th Street was the opportunity to pursue his first love, doing college basketball play-by-play. The former Harvard roundball standout will now have that chance, and will play a role in CBS' coverage of the NCAA Tournament.

Fox will have to find an exceptional individual to replace Brown, who'll be missed on the Los Angeles-based set.
