GINNY MIGHT TALK THE TALK, BUT HER ACTIONS DECEIVE

A great piece early this morning by Mike on his blog Florida News on Congresswoman Ginny Brown-Waite (R - Brooksville). She recently was quoted as saying that those who don't support the current occupation in Iraq do not support the troops.

Not supporting the actions of this administration in Iraq by no means should be considered not supporting the brave men and women who are in harm's way. But Mike looked at how Congresswomen Brown-Waite "supports the troops" in other ways, and reminds us that she seems to be "all talk and no real action":

She voted against House Resolution 3289, Fiscal Year 2004 Supplemental Appropriations for Iraq and Afghanistan/Vote to Provide Additional Funding for Quality of Life Enhancements for U.S. Troops. Not supporting the troops here, Ginny. (BTW: Our own Adam Putnam (R - Bartow) was not present for this vote).

She voted against another part of the same House Resolution the very next day: Supplemental Appropriations for Iraq and Afghanistan/Vote to Provide All U.S. Service Personnel with a Pay Raise of $1500. Not supporting the troops here either, Ginny. (Adam Putnam was absent for this vote, too)

And less than a month later, she voted against House Resolution 1588, Fiscal 2004: Defense Authorization/Vote to Recommit to Committee a Conference Report Which Failed to Extend Full Retirement and Disability Benefits to U.S. Veterans Who Were Wounded in Battle. Not supporting the troops here, either. (Neither did Adam Putnam)

Mike notes that the votes in all three cases were rather close. As a matter of fact, one of those needed only one vote. Ginny comes out against our military personnel in all three cases. If that's "supporting the troops"...

Thanks, Mike, for a wonderful heads up.
