LET'S HOPE THIS PREDICTION IS SERIOUSLY WRONG

"This may well be one of the most active Atlantic hurricane seasons on record."
--- National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Director David Johnson

NOAA raised it's prediction on the number of named tropical storms for this hurricane season from 11 to 14, with seven to nine becoming hurricanes and three to five expected to reach Catagory 3 or higher (sustained winds of 111 MPH or higher) on the Saffir-Simpson Scale.

It's already been a record-setting season, with seven tropical storms and two of those --- Dennis and Emily --- becoming major hurricanes. It's the earliest we've had this many storms so early in the season, which ends at the end of November.

And there's another tropical depression in the Atlantic that is expected to become Tropical Storm Harvey, but it's only expected to be a threat to Atlantic shipping.
