FSC RECEIVES SECOND $1M GIFT
During Friday's inauguration of Dr. Anne B. Kerr as president of Florida Southern College in Lakeland, she announced that the school has received another $1 million donation, the second since she came to FSC last June.
The first million dollar donation was announced last August and came from a donor who wished to remain anonymous. It benefits the school's chaplain position by providing funds for a salary and housing.
The latest gift, to support the Bill and Anne France endowed chair in business, comes from their son, 1968 FSC alum James C. France. Bill France, as many of you are aware, is the founder of NASCAR and International Speedway Corporation; James now serves as ISC's CEO.
This is a nice boost to the United Methodist Church affiliated college, and to Dr. Kerr's plan to raise the school's endowment to $150 million from it's current $64 million level. A major fundraising programme toward that end will be started within the next two years.
