REALITY SHOW PRODUCERS SHOULD VISIT EAGLE LAKE

Last week I posted about the serious feuding going on in Eagle Lake between current and former members of it's City Commission. Now a complaint by a former City Commissioner has cost the person who defeated her in the last election $450 for an error in an election sign.

According to the Winter Haven News Chief, Renee Archibald was fined by the Florida Elections Commission because her signs did not have the "paid political advertisment" disclaimer along with the identity of the person who paid for the advertisment, which are required by Florida Statutes section 106.

The complaint was filed by former councilwoman Pam Tallent-Blackburn not because of her losing to Archibald, but that she believes that since Archibald has been in office she has simply served as a "yes-person for the rest of (the council)."

Ms. Archibald chose not to contest the fine, blaming the situation on a printing error.

Investigations into the various complaints made by former Councilwoman Peg Crittendon are still underway.
