Happy Friday, everyone!

It seems that while I was quietly sleeping overnight, our friendly hurricane slowed downed and weakened somewhat. Nothing to cheer about, except the fact that you have a little longer to prepare. The NHC 5AM Advisory says that some fluctuations in the storm's strength could occur over the next 24 hours, but most of the TV weather types agree that as Frances continues to move over the warm waters of the Atlantic it could strengthen again to Catagory 4 level.

BTW: When I go to the NHC Web site, I actually get more out of the "Discussion" link, which actually goes more into detail of how the forecaster(s) get to their decisions. It may take a little while to understand what some of the items refer to, but you can get a better understanding into not only what is happening within the storm from the famed Air Force Reserve "Hurricane Hunter" aircraft (based at Keesler AFB, Mississippi), but the often contridictory information that forcasters have to deal with in determining where it's gonna go.

Well, I've gotta go to work today...ain't no hurricane keeping MCI from collecting all that past due $$$! There was some talk about closing our call center at noon today, but with Frances slowing down that talk probably just went down the toilet. There's nearly 1,000 people who work in our center. We were told that since there's no school today --- and I'm sure a number of day care centres may be closed as well --- that anyone that called in and specifically mentioned no child care would be excused (normally, if you don't work the working days before and after a holiday, you forfeit your holiday pay).

a. The NHC updates are quite confusing... I just go to the map/graph page, then surf over to the news sites to find out what the hell they are saying...

b. It sucks working for a company that is concerned about the bottom line above all else. Trouble is, it seems they are all like that nowadays.
