NO PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES, ONLY A BUNCH OF PAID STAFFERS AT J-J WEEKEND

The Florida Democratic Party is in the midst of it's Jefferson-Jackson Weekend in Hallandale Beach, a major fundraising event. Unfortunately, yours truly was unable to attend as the event is a bit rich for my 'po boy bank account. I guess I'll have to wait until the state party convention which will be held on the Disney property this fall.

Getting back on track, Adam C. Smith writes today in the St. Petersburg Times political blog The Buzz that while no presidential candidates are appearing to court the activists in attendance, four of the seven major Democratic campaigns have representation from top level paid staffers:

Joseph Biden: Campaign Manager Luis Navarro; Sister Valerie Biden Owens
John Edwards: Political Director David Medina; Senior Campaign Adviser Peter Hatch
Barack Obama: Political Director Matt Nugen; Deputy Political Director Eureka Gilkey; Southern Regional Political Director Erica Brooks
Hillary Rodham Clinton: Sean Johnson, Deputy Political Director

Christopher Dodd, Dennis Kucinich, and Bill Richardson either did not send anyone from their campaign team, or they have yet to be noted.

The headliner for the weekend's activities at the Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa is U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D - CA).
