TROUBLE ON THE HORIZON?

My posts on this blog may be limited for awhile, as I have experienced some problems on my computer over the past couple of days.

Normally I write my posts during the early morning before I head out the door to work, but the past two days when I turn on the 'puter I simply get the screen with the IBM logo and Windows does not come up at all. I have installed the latest anti-virus programme, which seems to be working fine, but I may have to take the computer in for repair...if I can afford it.

Please continue to visit, but be aware if you don't see anything for a time you'll know the likely cause.

Thank you for visiting and making I4J a part of your day...and be sure to tell a friend.

Sincerely,
Robert

did you try the c prompt restoreall commmand?? to take you back to the last known good config??? good luck.

I think it is C: regedit/ restoreall
I should go look it up before I post this

You could maybe try restoring the registry. Just reboot and tap the F8 key right away to get the boot menu. Select "Safe Mode with Command Prompt" to a command prompt and run the command "regedit /restore" (no quotes) or maybe "scanreg /restore". From here you should get a list of dates, just pick one where everything was working okay. Good luck. meshach 05:36, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Good thing I went to look. It's scan reg. I am an MCSE with a sieve for a brain and I do not do IT anymore but that one command has saved me many hours and dollars.

Do some poking around. I do dislike computer repair bills. I will do anything to avoid them.
It's possible this does not work with xp. I do dislike xp so I do not have much knowledge of same. Please let me know if I can help.
