A COUPLE OF POLK COUNTY ELECTION REMINDERS

If you live in Polk County and want an absentee election ballot mailed to you, today is the deadline for requesting it. You can either go online to www.polkelections.com and click on the "Vote by Mail" icon, or call the Supervisor of Elections office at 534-5888 to request it. In order for it to be counted, it must be received in the SOE's Bartow office no later than 7:00 PM Tuesday (Election Day).

And don't forget Early Voting continues through Saturday. There are six locations in Polk County where you can do so:

1) Bartow City Hall --- 450 North Wilson Avenue

2) Davenport City Hall/Community Center --- 5 Allapaha Avenua

3) Lake Wales Public Library --- 290 Cypress Gardens Lane

Supervisor of Elections Branch Offices:
4) Lakeland: 930 East Parker Street (Rear of old Searstown Shopping Center)
5) Winter Haven: 3425 Lake Alfred Road (Former State Farm Insurance Regional Headquarters)

6) Larry R. Jackson Branch Library --- 1700 North Florida Avenue, Lakeland

As I have noted here previously, I took advantage of the Early Voting option last week. It was very convenient, and there was no real line to speak of.

Please be sure to bring photo ID, as that is now required.
