I TOLD YOU...THESE THINGS HAVE A MIND OF THEIR OWN!

The folks in Coral Gables at the National Hurricane Centre are scratching their heads right about now. The various computer models, which are important aids in helping determine where a tropical storm/hurricane will go based on a variety of variables, were in general agreement as recently as early this morning. But later today they have begun providing differing forecasts, bringing Wilma in five days anywhere from the Atlantic off the Virginia/North Carolina coast to the western tip of Cuba.

NHC Director Dr. Max Mayfield has decided to err on the side of caution, choosing not to significantly change the forecast. As the discussion puts it, though:

NEEDLESS TO SAY...CONFIDENCE IN THE FORECAST TRACK...ESPECIALLY THE TIMING...HAS DECREASED CONSIDERABLY.

UPDATE: A couple of events have been changed or postponed, in case your're interested...

The UCF - Tulane game has been moved up from Saturday to Friday evening at 7:00 at the Citrus Bowl (Has Tulane not gone through ENOUGH this season, without ANOTHER hurricane to change their schedule?). And the Miami - Georgia Tech game has been postponed, with no makeup date announced.
