PANHANDLE GOP CHAIR HAS SECOND THOUGHTS REGARDING FLIER SENT
Thanks to The Buzz political blog of the St. Petersburg Times:
It seems as though the Santa Rosa County Republican Party in the Panhandle sent a flier produced by the state GOP to it's 1,900 graduating high school seniors encouraging them to register Republican. No big deal, just a rather straightforward solicitation for them to get on their side, eh? According to Steve Borsquet:
"...an attached pamphlet produced by the Republican Party of Florida has Democrats fuming. The flier cites a ""huge difference'' between the two parties and defines 'liberal Democrats' as having 'an extremist record of placing the rights of criminals above all' and 'aligned with extreme left-wing elements that God should be totally excluded from public utterances.' The flier lists the phone number of the state party and says: 'Paid for by the Republican Party of Florida.'
'[county GOP chair Nancy] Cole said she believes some Democrats hold such views, but she said she also knows plenty of Democrats who don't. As for the flier, she didn't try to mount a defense of it. "It's a bit radical,'' Cole said. "I don't know that I would send it again.''
Sounds like she should have read the flier before spending the money and effort sending such garbage...
