JACKSONVILLE/DUVAL COUNTY BLOGGERS MAKING THEMSELVES KNOWN

The Florida Times-Union had a front page feature nearly two weeks ago about the growing Metro Jacksonville blogging scene. The piece, by T-U writer Charlie Patton, was picked up by the Associated Press and has run in newspapers throughout Florida; it appeared in today's Lakeland Ledger.

Among the blogs mentioned in the piece are Urban Jacksonville, which focuses on the downtown area and surrounding neighbourhoods; Ricotta Park, which discusses a variety of subjects but whose main interests are food and music; and The Urban Core, a blog which keeps up with the arts.

One blogger from that area, Workbench, lamented on his site that the blogs featured in the T-U piece are mostly new ones, and that Patton ignored several that had been around much longer, including his own. He makes mention of those, with links to their sites.

It seems that regardless of political leanings or other interests, the Metro Jacksonville blogging scene has become more active, and that's always a good thing. Proud to say that the I-4 corridor from Tampa/St. Petersburg to Orlando/Daytona Beach has a strong presence in the blogosphere as well, just check out the blog links on the right hand side of this page. Yeah, yeah...it needs to be updated...something I need to plan for the two days I have off this week.
