A GREAT COLUMN TO LAUGH AT

Tampa Tribune columnist Daniel Ruth hit hard Tuesday, writing his column about the latest defections from Katherine Harris' campaign staff.

A little taste:

How bad has it gotten for the Katherine Harris, R-Caine Mutiny, U.S. Senate campaign? Let's put it this way: The Soviet era Bolshoi Ballet didn't have this many defections.
There haven't been as many mass surrenders since Lee met with Grant at Appomattox.

Ralph Nader has a brighter political future.

Just a few days ago, another round of Harris campaign staff jumped ship, including her campaign manager and media flack.

This isn't a political campaign. It's "The Great Escape."...

It's possible that in time Harris will be back on the campaign trail, wearing a hospital gown with an IV inserted in her arm, hustling the sympathy vote. One only wishes this was just a joke.

It was interesting that Ruth wrote that last paragraph, because it just so happens that Sarasota Herald-Tribune political writer Jeremy Wallace noted in his Political Insider blog this week that:

Harris’ U.S. Senate campaign sent out a mass e-mail to supporters asking them to send an already written online greeting card to Harris as she goes into surgery for an ovarian mass.

The pre-written greeting card states: “Katherine, Take care and get well soon! We will be thinking of you. Your Supporters.”

The e-mail, sent on Friday, goes on to say: “We know that Katherine will greatly appreciate your prayers and words of support while she recovers.”

Needless to say, it also contained a link to make contributions to her campaign effort. BTW: Ms. Harris went through the surgery well Monday, and is reportedly recovering at home.
