WHEN YOU'RE THE CAPTAIN OF THE SHIP...

"To the extent the federal government didn't fully do its job right, I take responsibility."

President George W. Bush said those words today at the White House during a joint news conference with the President of Iraq, referring to the shameful federal response in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Speaking of taking responsibility: The owners of a nursing home have been charged with 34 counts of negligent homicide for not evacuating residents. They were found dead several days ago. Sadly, the husband-and-wife owners of St. Rita's Nursing Home in Chalmette didn't take their responsibility seriously enough, and 34 of the elderly Louisiana citizens in their care died.
