IT'S SOOOOO HARD TO TURN DOWN THE POTUS

Jeremy Wallace of the Sarasota Herald Tribune mentioned over the weekend how when the President of the United States calls to ask for your help, it's difficult to say "No".

Seems as though Congressman Mark Foley (R - Jupiter) had been one of the holdouts on voting in favour of the Central America Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA). Part of the reason is because Foley's constituents include a number of sugar growers, who were obviously concerned over CAFTA's influence on their business.

But Dubya called and chatted with the South Florida representative. While Foley said that the Prez's call was not the only factor in his eventually voting for the trade bill, it was a factor. He told Wallace he didn't want CAFTA supporters holding sugar growers responsible if it failed.

Just another example of the difficulty to turn down the leader of the free world when he comes callin' to ask for your help.
